In October 2013, Resources for Exceptional Children and Youth - Durham Region, as lead agency, was notified of the successful outcome of the Ontario Trillium Foundation application submitted in the summer of 2013 by the DCYPN Transition Committee.

The 3 year OTF grant (January 2014 – December 2016) will:

  • enable DCYPN to hire a Project Coordinator to support the work of the Transition Committee and the community;

  • fund program expenses which will support the implementation of an inclusive and collaborative community-planning structure. Included in program expenses are an updated website, training opportunities, and funds to support the work of the Analysis Action Group.

What are the goals and objectives of DCYPN?

The grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation will allow DCYPN to implement a three year action plan with the expected results of:

  • enhanced capacity for collaboration among agencies serving children and youth in Durham Region;

  • and enhanced knowledge and capacity to identify and respond to community priorities.

In order to achieve these expected results, DCYPN has committed to:

  • creating and approving a new community planning structure.  This structure will include an enhanced and expanded network of intermediary organizations that affect change on issues identified by communities within Durham Region that promote the well-being of children, youth and families.

  • creating and implementing a communication strategy including launching a new website.

  • compiling a comprehensive list of community activities and resources.

  • examining available data, collecting additional data, and utilizing this information to inform community priorities.
